In our research, the 5 international students had been accepted from 2011
to 2013, and they got their Ph.D. degrees after three years.
When accepting students, the special selection was performed under the “Asian Human Resource Fund” program established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The enrollees received financial supports with the scholarships to dedicate efforts to their study.
Student Intake
We had accepted the five international students in our five fields of the
research.
In 2011 - 1 student in the Traffic Engineering and Infrastructure Planning
Field.
In 2012 - 2 students in the Steel & Hybrid Engineering Field and Soil
Mechanics Field.
In 2013 - 2 students in the Concrete Field.
Education Plan
Leading Student-Oriented Researches
Leading Student-Oriented Researches, we encouraged students to draw up
their research plans and take the initiatives in conducting experiments
after enough consultations.
In order to perceive the phenomena in the experiments and understand the essences, students are responsible for the whole process of the researches.
Adopting Students as Teaching Assistants
We hoped the students to acquire a wide range of expertise besides the
study results on their researches and also to learn the challenges in teaching
and the instructional skills. For that purpose students were adopted as
‘Teaching Assistants’. We considered to raise their awareness as future
researchers and teachers, and expected them to utilize their experiences
achieved in this program after going back to their home countries.
Supports for Enrollees by ‘Asian Human Resources Fund’
The following financial assistances were provided to those who passed the

About Students
The Study Tours of Civil Engineering Facilities for International Students
We had run a additional project from 2013, “The Study Tours of Civil Engineering
Facilities for International Students under the Asian Human Resources Fund
Program”.
This “Study Tour” aimed to broaden our students’ view and draw on their
experiences by visiting various important facilities and infrastructures
in Japan.
Furthermore, sometimes we invited students from other projects in the tours.
We believed that helped our international students to establish meaningful
connections between them, both for their study and life in Japan.
