TOKYO METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY

Research Plandetail

Our objectives of each year are as follows.

In 2011

We studied on the basic knowledge about some following issues: deterioration mechanism, non-destructive tests, monitoring techniques, ground characteristics and estimation methods of traffic conditions. We also carried out the long time experiment on repairing and strengthening for improving the fatigue life of steel and hybrid structures to obtain its basic data. In addition, we began to research on the estimation methods of traffic conditions which could be applied to the asset management.

In 2012

Continuing the examinations from FY 2011, we conducted experiments with the specific factors taking from the geographical conditions of Tokyo and collected their data.

In 2013

We summarized the new research results of defining deterioration mechanism, improving the accuracy of the non-destructive tests and the monitoring techniques, and the ground characteristics. And we also presented the basic concept of methods for the durability evaluation and the life expectancy forecast.

In 2014

We complemented the experiments on the repair and strengthening techniques for ensuring the structural safety and examined the reasonable maintenance strategies for urban infrastructures taken account of deterioration.

In 2015

We established the technologies for ensuring the structural safety and extending the service life of aging infrastructures by the comprehensive evaluation based on the results of the repairing and strengthening experiments, the ground characteristics investigations and the study on the estimation methods of traffic conditions.
