LIFE CYCLE ENGINEERING
For the coming society, closed life cycle of artifacts and dematerialization play a critical role. As a result, it is necessary to develop product design methodologies to expand life cycle of artifacts so as to include recycle, reuse, remanufacturing, etc. According to the idea of Inverse Manufacturing, our group investigate methods to efficiently realize recycling and reuse by investigating design contents from a management point of view, including not only product design, but also product life cycle simulations. More specifically, we research on: development of a life cycle simulator to support design of product life cycle, design methodology for upgradability which enables enlongation of value life of products, and on development of an upgrade design support system.
