A shortage of donors for transplantation is a very serious problem in the world. Furthermore, in Asian countries, the number of the waiting list is increasing year by year. Expanding the organ donor pool and extending the donor criteria are significantly important for those awaiting transplantation, because almost all organs have damaged tissues and/or vessels after cardiac death due to the termination of blood flow. The MP technique is able to eliminate toxins generated from cells and provide nutrition and oxygen to the tissues via the continuous supply of the preservation perfusate. Furthermore, the organ viability can be evaluated using screening techniques during MP before implantation in a recipient.
